Cha Am

Cha Am, a coastal town 220 km south of Bangkok and 30 km north from Hua Hin. We don't want to refer to Cha Am as Hua Hin & Cha Am like many others do because Cha Am is a town on its self. Cha Am is just close to Hua Hin that's all.

Cha Am has been a favorite holiday and weekend destination for Thais since long time and the last years also western discovered Cha Am. Cha Am is developing more and more but still is quiet and characteristic.

Cha-Am is also ideal for western families, as there are a lot of activities for children and no bar scene like in Pattaya or Phuket. Expats and long term tourists in Cha-Am are mostly retirees from Northern Europe (Scandinavia, Netherlands...).

A stay at the 5 km beach in Cha Am is a very nice experience due to the many trees, deck chairs, shops and restaurants. Ideal for families as the beach is long and sandy and the sea has a nice temperature and is not deep at all which makes it perfect for children. During the week it will be very quiet but in the weekends and public holidays it will get busier as it’s a favorite place also for Thai since long time.

Besides the splendid beach, there are many places worth a visit in Cha Am area within a 45 minutes drive. The Phra Nakom Khiri or Khoa Wang palace on top of a hill, built in 1859, the Temple Wat Phra Khew, the residential Grand Palace, Mrigadayavan Palace the "royal home of love and hope" of King Rama VI, Puek-Tian, Khao Nang Phanthurat Forest Park, Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Centre or Kaeng Krachan national park Thailand's largest national park, covering an area of over 2,900 square km and so much more. There is not a very lively night life at Cha Am but at Inthira Plaza there are bars and several good restaurants.

Also there's a vibrant local market that's worth taking a look around.

Having a large majority of Thai tourists you will be having an authentic experience enjoying the real Thailand.

Cha-am is easily reached from Bangkok by train, bus or minivan or from Hua Hin by the same and taxi. The journey from Hua Hin should only take around 20 minutes.
